At approximately 3:30 AM, TFD received a call reporting flames and smoke coming from the fifth floor of the six-story building located at 315 South Boston Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames billowing from multiple windows. They immediately deployed aggressive firefighting teams to contain the blaze and search for occupants. Over 50 firefighters, including specialized rescue crews, worked tirelessly for several hours to extinguish the fire. They encountered intense heat and heavy smoke during their operations. Thankfully, all occupants were safely evacuated without any injuries reported. However, one firefighter sustained a minor smoke inhalation and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Tulsa Fire Investigation Unit. Damage to the building is estimated to be significant, with several units affected by fire, smoke, and water damage. “This was a challenging fire to extinguish due to the height of the building and the intense heat,” said Tulsa Fire Chief Ray Driskell. “Our firefighters’ quick response and courageous efforts prevented the fire from spreading to other units.” The apartment building has been temporarily evacuated, and residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross and other agencies. The Tulsa Fire Department reminds the public to take fire safety precautions, including: * Ensuring smoke detectors are installed and working * Maintaining clear escape routes * Never leaving candles unattended * Properly disposing of smoking materials Firefighters are heroes who put their lives on the line to protect our community. Their bravery and dedication during this incident are a testament to their unwavering service.
