At approximately 7:30 PM, multiple fire crews responded to reports of a blaze at the former Eastman Kodak building located on Ridge Road West. Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames upon their arrival. The fire quickly spread through the aging structure, causing significant damage. The roof collapsed, and the building was rendered uninhabitable. Firefighters worked for several hours to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported. According to Lieutenant David Smith of the RPD, the fire is being treated as suspicious. Detectives are investigating the scene and interviewing witnesses. “We are looking into all possibilities, including arson,” said Lieutenant Smith. “We believe someone may have intentionally set the factory on fire.” The abandoned factory had been vacant for years and had become a target for vandalism and homeless people. The fire has raised concerns about the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. “We are working closely with the fire department to determine the cause of the fire,” said Mayor Lovely Warren. “We want to reassure residents that their safety is our top priority.” The investigation is ongoing.
