Benjamin “Elvis” Schumann, a popular performer on the Las Vegas Strip, was driving down Spring Mountain Road when he spotted a kitten stranded high up in a tree. Alarmed by the animal’s plight, he parked his car and approached the towering oak. With his signature pompadour and sequined jumpsuit, Schumann resembled an unlikely hero. But driven by compassion, he began to climb the trunk, using his vocal cords to soothe the frightened feline. “I was singing ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ to the kitten as I climbed,” Schumann said. “I wanted to assure it that everything was going to be okay.” As Schumann ascended, he noticed that the kitten was stuck on a limb about 40 feet above the ground. Undeterred, he continued his climb, careful not to startle the animal. After several tense minutes, Schumann reached the kitten and gently lifted it into his arms. The relieved feline let out a small purr and snuggled against its rescuer. Schumann carried the kitten down the tree and into his car, where it curled up on his lap and fell asleep. “I’m just glad I could help out,” Schumann said. “As an Elvis impersonator, I’m always trying to make the world a better place, one ‘Hound Dog’ at a time. And saving a kitten is certainly ‘all shook up.'” Schumann took the kitten to a local animal shelter, where it was given a clean bill of health and named “Elvis Presley Jr.” in honor of its canine rescuer. The story of the Elvis impersonator who rescued the kitten from the tree quickly spread throughout Las Vegas and beyond, capturing the hearts of animal lovers and music fans alike. “It’s a reminder that even in the glittering city of Las Vegas, where anything is possible, kindness and compassion will always prevail,” said a grateful animal shelter employee. “Elvis impersonator or not, Benjamin Schumann is a true hero.”
