The iconic waterway will host this exhilarating attraction, promising a unique and refreshing summer experience for residents and visitors alike. The slide, aptly named the “River Slide,” will tower over the river at more than 50 feet tall and extend over 300 feet in length. It will feature a thrilling eight-story drop, propelling riders through twists, turns, and splashes into the cool waters below. The River Slide will be constructed along the Mission Reach segment of the River Walk, near Mission Espada. This section is known for its scenic beauty and proximity to historic missions, offering a picturesque backdrop for the water slide adventure. “We are excited to bring this unique attraction to the River Walk,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “The River Slide will not only provide a fun and thrilling experience, but it will also contribute to the city’s tourism industry and economic development.” The River Slide is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024. It will be operated by the San Antonio River Authority (SARA), which manages the River Walk. Admission to the River Slide will be ticketed, with prices varying based on age and time of day. Riders will be required to wear appropriate swimwear and safety gear. “The River Slide will be an unforgettable addition to the River Walk,” said SARA General Manager Suzanne Scott. “We believe it will become a must-visit destination for locals and tourists seeking an adrenaline-pumping experience in the heart of downtown San Antonio.” The River Walk is a 15-mile network of walkways and bridges along the San Antonio River. It is a popular destination for strolling, dining, shopping, and experiencing the city’s rich culture and history.
