This innovative park allows both humans and their canine companions to enjoy the thrill of skateboarding together. The skatepark features a variety of obstacles designed not only for skaters, but also for dogs of all sizes. ramps, rails, and bowls provide a safe and exciting environment where dogs can practice their tricks and socialize. “This skatepark is a testament to our city’s commitment to providing innovative and inclusive amenities for all residents, including our furry friends,” said Mayor Keller. “We’re excited to see dogs and their humans enjoy this new space together.” The park’s obstacles are made from durable materials that are gentle on paws. There are also several water fountains and shade structures to keep both dogs and humans hydrated and comfortable. The dog-friendly skatepark is a joint project between the City of Albuquerque, the Albuquerque BioPark, and the New Mexico Dog Fanciers Association. It was funded in part by a grant from the Humane Society of the United States. “This skatepark is a dream come true for dog owners in Albuquerque,” said Mary Ellen Herrera, President of the New Mexico Dog Fanciers Association. “It’s a great place for dogs to burn off energy, learn new tricks, and bond with their humans.” The skatepark is open to the public during park hours. Dogs must be leashed until they enter the skatepark area. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. “This skatepark is a symbol of our city’s progress and commitment to animal welfare,” said Mayor Keller. “We hope it will inspire other cities to follow our lead and create more dog-friendly spaces.”
