The alligators, which ranged in size from 4 to 8 feet, were first reported by a resident who noticed them swimming in a pond behind the neighborhood’s recreation center. Police and wildlife agents were called to the scene and confirmed the presence of the alligators. Due to the potential danger, authorities decided to evacuate the neighborhood as a precaution. Residents were instructed to leave their homes and report to a safe location. “We are taking this situation very seriously,” said Police Chief Murphy Paul. “Alligators are known to be aggressive animals, and we do not want to put any lives at risk.” Wildlife agents are currently working to remove the alligators from the pond. They have set up traps and are using boats to search for the animals. “We understand that this is a disruption to the community,” said Wildlife Agent John Smith. “But we want to assure residents that we are doing everything we can to ensure their safety.” The neighborhood is expected to remain evacuated until the alligators have been removed. Residents are advised to stay away from the pond and report any alligator sightings to authorities. “We urge everyone to be cautious,” said Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. “Alligators can be dangerous, and it is important to take precautions to avoid them.” The Baton Rouge Police Department and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are continuing to investigate the incident.
