Baltimore Feline Frenzy: Inflatable Kitties Take Over the CityBaltimore Feline Frenzy: Inflatable Kitties Take Over the City Baltimore has been swept by a feline invasion, as an army of colossal inflatable cats descends upon the streets. Towering over buildings and adorning every corner, these giant felines have unleashed a wave of “feline fever” across the Charm City. The inflatable kitties, part of a public art installation by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), have become an instant hit with residents and visitors alike. Standing anywhere from 10 to 25 feet tall, they come in an array of breeds and colors, from calicoes to siamese. The cats have been strategically placed throughout the city, each with a unique personality and purpose. “Mural Cat” adorns the side of a building downtown, its playful paws reaching out to embrace the passersby. “Glam Kitty” struts her stuff in the Inner Harbor, her sequined sunglasses providing a touch of sparkle. But the inflatable kitties are more than just eye-catching decorations. They have sparked a social media frenzy, with residents posting countless photos and videos of their feline encounters. The installation has also brought a sense of whimsy and joy to a city known for its rich history and culture. The project, entitled “The Pride of Baltimore: Charm City Cats,” was conceived by BOPA in partnership with local artists and businesses. The aim was to create a playful and memorable experience that would bring people together and showcase the city’s vibrant spirit. “We wanted to create something that would make people smile and brighten their day,” said Amy Bogush, the Director of BOPA. “The inflatable cats have definitely accomplished that, and they have become a symbol of the city’s creativity and sense of humor.” The inflatable kitties will remain on display in Baltimore streets until early October, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to capture their own feline moments. And as the city catches “feline fever,” one thing is for sure: Baltimore will never be the same without its furry feline companions.
