The Arch VR experience, powered by The VOID, immerses visitors into a captivating virtual world that transports them to the year 1965, when the Arch was under construction. Guests don VR headsets and backpacks and step into a physical enclosure that simulates the interior of the Arch. As they ascend the Arch in the VR environment, they interact with virtual steelworkers, witness the intricate construction process, and experience the breathtaking views from the observation deck. The haptic feedback built into the backpacks provides a tactile sensation that enhances the immersive experience. “The Arch VR experience brings the Arch’s history to life in a way that traditional exhibits cannot,” said Tom Hill, director of the Gateway Arch Park Foundation. “It allows visitors to connect with the engineers and workers who made this iconic structure a reality.” In addition to the historical experience, the Arch VR also offers a futuristic virtual tour. Guests can explore the Arch from a bird’s-eye view and even venture inside the tram to witness its operation. The VR experience has proven to be a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. “It was incredible to feel like I was actually inside the Arch under construction,” said one visitor. “The VR technology really brought the past to life.” The Arch VR experience is a testament to the power of technology to enhance cultural and historical landmarks. Through virtual reality, the Gateway Arch becomes not only a physical symbol of the city but also an immersive platform for storytelling and education.
